"Animal Cruelty": Interview with Laurelee Blanchard

The Industrial Revolution triggered the juggernaut decline of the treatment of animals on a planetary basis. Tens of thousands of species have become extinct because of human beings. Animals that live on land, sea, fresh water, or use the air as their primary milieu have all suffered from abuse. Homo Sapiens have not been good stewards for the planet and seem to know no boundaries. Just turn on Animal Planet to see how some "beloved" pets are treated.

Dog fights and cockfights have become big city epidemics. Enclosed "Safaris" or "Hunts", such as the one Dick Cheney mistook his crony for an animal are disgusting. Livestock are often abused and slaughtered in a most heart rendering way.

Laurelee Blanchard is the Communications Director of Farm Sanctuary and the former Communications Director for Farm Animal Reform.
